Cumbria.Digital as part of our multiplex license application to Ofcom are committing to a reserved capacity for community stations of a minimum capacity for 6 community stations in the multiplex service area. Cumbria.Digital will hold reserve capacity for six community digital service providers (C-DSP), each of a bit rate of 48 kbps. With the spaces are available for current community stations in the multiplex area or other new C-DSP licence holders as long as the reserved community capacity is available. The capacity will be provided on a first come, first served for C-DSP services licensed for the multiplex area. Should the reserved capacity be filled by C-DSP licence holder and demand for additional capacity arise Cumbria Digital will work to support all Ofcom licenced C-DSP stations who wish to broadcast in the multiplex area if spare capacity exists in the commercial multiplex capacity. The remaining commercial capacity, amounting to approximately 14 spaces will be available for any other Ofcom DSP licensed broadcaster that can be a local, regional, national or international commercial, a commercial specialist station. Capacity could also be available to support the BBC in improving coverage for its stations if required. Cumbria.Digital will strive to deliver a diversity of service in the area served by the small scall Digital multiplex by prioritising capacity for stations that are independent of any other existing service in the multiplex area and stations that offer programming distinct from other services available over air in the multiplex area. Carlisle and Penrith Multiplex Cumbria.Digital are currently compiling a list of stations that are interested in being part of the station offering for the Carlisle and Penrith service area we are currently working to secure a multiplex for. If you would like more information on our plans for Carlisle and Penrith multiplex or would like to register your interest, please get in touch - the list is growing rapidly! Beyond Over The Air. Cumbria.Digital will also offer all stations broadcasting on a Cumbria.Digital multiplex capacity on our new Cumbria.Digital radio app along with streaming radio hosting capacity enabling stations to reach listeners over the air and online across Cumbria. Cumbria.Digital will also work with community station to provide access to a turnkey studio facility in our Cumbria.Digital media hub enabling stations to get on air and provide their service from one of our modern equipped studio hubs. Cumbria.Digital is also working to provide shared OB facilities that will enable stations access to a shared outside broadcast facility for broadcasting on location. Will Cumbria.Digital operate its own radio station on its multiplex? No! Cumbria.Digital have no plans to operate our own station on the multiplex we are focused on the development and delivery of the infrastructure and technology that enables others to operate and deliver radio stations themselves. Cumbria.Digital will work collaboratively with broadcasters on gaining the maximum potential from the Cumbria.Digital platform and continue research and development pushing the boundaries of the technology to deliver further benefits to broadcasters and listeners |
